About The Program

This HND program focuses on the principles of engineering geology and geotechnics, combining field investigation techniques, laboratory testing, and practical site analysis. Students learn how to evaluate soil and rock behaviour for foundations, slopes, and earthworks.

Program Curriculum Overview

The HND Geotechnics & Geology runs over two semesters per academic year with practical lab work, field assignments and a final applied project.

First Semester Credits
Introduction to Engineering Geology3
Soil Mechanics I3
Field Investigation Techniques3
Geological Mapping & Survey2
Geotechnical Laboratory Methods2
Second Semester Credits
Soil Mechanics II & Foundation Engineering3
Rock Mechanics & Slope Stability3
Geotechnical Site Investigation3
Environmental Geology2
Applied Project / Field Report3

Students spend significant time in the field for site investigations and in geotechnical labs performing classification and strength tests. The final applied project demonstrates practical competency for industry tasks.

Student Testimonials

The fieldwork and lab sessions gave me the confidence to conduct site investigations independently. I now work on foundation design projects in Douala.
